Zelkova Serrata - Japanese Grey bark elm

This less known species is actually one of our favorite here at Mishobonsai.com. Zelkova serrata lends naturally itself to a broom style shape bonsai. Really easy for a beginner and fast grower. Another advantage of the zelkova, it's that it is resistant to disease regular elm are subject too. It's serrated leaves are of a bright green while turning red in fall. Very gorgeous.
