Pinus Sylvestris - Scotch Pine
The scotch pine is also known as the scots pine. It is native of Europe and Asia. It is a popular bonsai specie because of its bark being thick, scaly dark grey-brown on the lower trunk, and thin, flaky and orange on the upper trunk and branches. The needles are blue-green in color in summer and will turn to a yellow-green color in the cold season. The bonsai techniques for this pine specie is similar to most black pines including the japanese black pine.
