Green and red fresh japanese maple seeds

by MishoBonsai.com | post a comment

This autumn brings so much goodies for us that we are very excited. This time, we have found a source of seeds from Oregon. We bring you fresh green and red dissected leaves japanese maples seeds. Seeds are so fresh that we have to keep the bag open to prevent moisture building up and rotting the seeds. They are currently stored in the fridge with the bag open to also prevent them to germinate before we have a chance to send them to you.

Seeds were collected exactly 8 days ago. Just the time for them to get tested, the import certificate issued and sent via express air mail.

These red and green laceleaf japanese maple are exactly the following:

  • Green dissected Japanese maple: Acer palmatum 'viridis'
  • Red dissected japanese maple: Acer palmatum 'Inaba Shidare'
I may keep some of these seeds for my own collection. Too bad we are in autumn here, I would just sow these seeds now and see them in a few weeks. I guess ill have to wait till next spring to see these little trees.

Winter will be a good time for all of us bonsai tree enthusiasts to read a few books to perfect our bonsai art technique. Basic bonsai care principles are always important and ressourcing ourself means we will have healthier tree next growing seasons.

Timber press as some good horticulture and forestry books for sale. I have made a christmas gift list composed of a few of them. Have a look, im sure you will find a few to put on your gift list yourself. The botanical latin glossary is my favorite so far. Etymology is very important when it comes to latin names of plants and trees. Once you know why a certain plant is named that way, you can know some informations about it; like flowers color, leaf shape and growing habits. All this without even seeing the plant or a picture of it.

Take good bonsai care,
Patrick
