Misho Bonsai NewsSpring is at our doors - Get your tree seeds ready! ![]() Spring is almost here in my region of north america. The lack of snow this year as me a bit worried about the safety of a few of my tree. Usually mroe snow means that my bonsai tree shelter is covered in snow, which acts like isolation from winds and cold temperature. However, we havent received much snow this year. But, we only had a few days of real dry cold weather. Lets hope for the best when I unveil these little bonsai from the shelter. Last November, we got a stock of freshly harvested japanese maple seeds. The ones that are considerated as wet seeds because they havent had the chance to dry up. I store these seeds in zip lock bags in the fridge. This week while doing some orders, I notice that the seeds from the yezo-nishiki japanese maple have started to germinate in the ziplock bag. This is very good news as it proves the viability of our stocks, but it also brings losses in stock. Furthermore, I cannot plant these allready germinated seeds outside because it is still too cold. I also notice that the koto-no-ito seeds have germinated also. We have the following wet japanese maple seeds in limited quantities:
We often get emails of people asking us to find them real tree seeds of species we allready carry because they dont want bonsai seeds, they want to grow a real tree. It surprise me everytime. The tree seeds we carry are all tree seeds from regular trees and will grow real size tree if left unatended and untrained. The bonsai is the result of the training of the tree and not the result of a magical seeds growing a small miniature. So dont be afraid, we offer real tree seeds, but we offer tree seeds of species that are prefered as bonsai tree. Thats it for now. Take care!
