Carpinus Japonica - Japanese hornbeam
The Japanese counterpart of the hornbeam family. A mature tree will have a flat top style but the most interesting feature of this tree is the dispersement of the branches around the trunk. Much like the wings of a fan, the branches are spread carefully all around the trunk. It will produce nice flowers in spring and the bark is very appealing on juvenile as it is grey-pink in color. The leaves color in fall is crimson red.
