This japanese barberry specie grows with an horizontal habit. The leaves are very dense and of a brigth red color. the leaves will turn to a purple-reddish color in fall. The flowers are yellow and will produce a very brigth red fruit. The stem produce thorn. It is a bonsai natural specie because of it's small leaves. The biggest leaves in nature are 1 1/2 inch.
