The yezo nishiki japanese maple cultivar is similar to the bloodgood variety of japanese maple. However, it has a more delicate foliage, it is an overall smaller and upright then the bloodgood japanese maple. The foliage is brilliant red in fall, cherry and wine red in summer and dark red in fall. It also sports a 7 lobed leaves.
